AMANDA DUNNE ACEVEDO
is an artist, deviser, curator and arts educator. Her work has been seen at 2nd Story, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Links Hall, Chicago Theatre Marathon, South Side Story Club, Chicago Artists Month and the Chicago Home Theatre Project. She has artistically collaborated with Dandelion Theatre, Vintage Theatre Collective, Red Tape, and Tympanic Theatre Company. She has curated multidisciplinary arts events for Harvard, Around the Coyote, Genesis, and Tympanic. Amanda was the Director of Education at Northlight Theatre, a Lead Teaching Artist and Senior Manager of School Programs with Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and taught the Teaching Artist Seminar and Practicum course at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) until 2022. She has crafted and facilitated arts education professional development workshops for Ingenuity, Lincoln Center Education's Summer Forum, Harvard’s Graduate School of Education and Kennedy School, Steppenwolf Theatre, Miami University, Pennsylvania State University, and University of Texas at Austin. Amanda received an Ed.M in Arts in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in May 2018. She is featured on the 2nd Story podcast, episode 265 here. LINDSEY BARLAG THORNTON Lindsey Barlag Thornton is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and educator based in Chicago. Her artistic practice spans and hybridizes experimental theatre, performance art, video, installation, and social practice. Collaboration is vital to the work and her practice is a relationship of love and reciprocity with the material and audience. Lindsey is a 2014 MFA graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she is currently the Assistant Director of Exhibitions & Staff Advisor to SITE Galleries. Lindsey has taught with ChiArts, Chicago’s only public high school for the arts, and with the Education Department at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Her work has been performed and exhibited with The Copernicus Center, Defibrillator Gallery, The Foxhole, Haggerty Museum (Milwaukee, WI), Hyde Park Art Center, Links Hall, Mana Contemporary, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Roman Susan Gallery, Sullivan Galleries, and Tritriangle Gallery, as well as in abandoned storefronts and on the streets of Chicago. lindseybarlagthornton.com |
